This individual will architect cutting-edge strategies for the payment process using latest computing techniques driving proof of concepts with strong hands-on experience. We expect the individual to be innovative and energetic with strong communications skills to adopt the concepts into production. EA as an organization aims to set the bar for technology at American Express. The two main drivers of EA's success are its frameworks (common services to be leveraged by engineering teams across the enterprise) and its Major Engagements (high priority, business critical projects which need architectural guidance and support). Software DevelopmentMid level ability in software development, such as coding assignments, as a full stack developerFunction as member of an agile team by contributing to software builds through consistent development practices (tools, common components, and documentation)Participate in code reviews and automated testingDebug basic software components and identify code defects for remediationEnable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environmentsAutomate deployments in test or production environmentsAutomatically scale applications based on demand projections LeadershipDemonstrate increased self-reliance to achieve team goalsInfluence team members with creative changes and improvements by challenging status quo and demonstrating risk takingMinimum requirements:Up to 6 years of software development experience in a professional environment and/or comparable experience such as:Familiar with Agile or other rapid application development methodsExperience with design and coding in Java and across one or more platforms and additional languages as appropriateUI experience using React, Node requiredHands-on expertise with application design, software development and automated testingExperience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databasesConfirmed experience with object-oriented design and coding with variety of languagesExperience with streaming technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink and Scala as a programming language a plusBackend experience including Apache Cassandra, and relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL a plusBachelor's Degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required; advanced degree preferredWe back our colleagues and their loved ones with benefits and programs that support their holistic well-being.
