The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team is responsible for establishing and maintaining the Company's overall risk management and governance framework. The team is also responsible for ensuring that risk management activities are being conducted in a manner compliant with regulatory requirements and expectations. The team aggregates and reports on key risk management and oversight activities to the relevant management and Board risk committees.Roles & Responsibilities:The incumbent will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Risk Identification framework using a risk taxonomy process with inputs from different business units across the organization to systematically identify material risks across the business and aggregate at an enterprise level and maintain the said framework as part of the periodic review and refresh process or dependent on evolving market conditions.·Manage the risk identification process supporting the risk determination and hierarchy of the American Express risk taxonomy·Develop and maintain risk taxonomy definitions and full set of potential exposures stemming from different business activities·Ensure risk taxonomy has sufficient levels of granularity on an ongoing basis to capture vulnerabilities, support RAF and capital planning process·Determine the inherent risk materiality methodology for the risk taxonomy·Determine linkage between risk event taxonomy and capital stress testing design scenario·Responsible for how the Risk Appetite Framework links to the firm's materiality framework that assists in assignment of materiality for risks through both qualitative and quantitative meansMinimum Qualifications:·4+ years of experience in risk management and governance or a similar role.·Masters degree in a relevant quantitative field like Finance, Economics, Finance and Risk Engineering, etc. or relevant work experience in the risk management space.·Ability to work independently and across a matrix organization partnering with business partners, functional owners, capabilities, technology teams and external stakeholders.·Understanding of the regulatory landscape for large banks including specific supervisory guidance around risk management frameworks (e.g., OCC Heightened Standards).·An understanding of foundational risk management frameworks including financial and non-financial risks faced by a financial institution and their potential impacts on the Company's operating environment.·Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, PowerPoint and Excel).·Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information sets effectively and succinctly for consumption by regulators, senior risk leadership, and Executive Committee members.·Comfortable with bringing structure and thought leadership to changing priorities and ambiguous requirements and delivering on insightful outcomes that support risk management objectives for the Company.·Strong attention to detail and sense of end-to-end ownership of processes and deliverables.Preferred Qualifications·Specific training or experience with roles in the Enterprise Risk Management space, particularly with Risk Identification and Taxonomy related activities, Risk Assessments and Governance Frameworks.·CFA or FRM certification·Experience working on or supporting leadership for U.S. regulatory engagements is desired but not required.We back our colleagues and their loved ones with benefits and programs that support their holistic well-being.
