Position Summary
The Software Development Engineer provides software development support by analyzing business requirements to design and develop appropriate systems solutions according to specifications. They provide technical expertise in evaluating, designing, developing, deploying, monitoring, testing and supporting systems and procedures that are cost effective and improve work efficiency. Additionally, the software development engineer partners with enterprise and solution architects to ensure that the application meets company service level standards and roadmap requirements. The software development engineer is embedded within an agile team and is able to quickly adapt to shifting business priorities. The SDE will work with our Web Properties / AEM team’s developers and QA with focus on Web & Marketing technologies. This team-oriented position will help us with our front-end development efforts using the Adobe platform to build custom web solutions.

Primary Responsibilities
Perform cutting edge front-end development

Translate business needs into technical requirements

Provide constructive feedback in code reviews and help others to become better developers

Provide frontend development build system and define how frontend tools are to be coordinated with platforms such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)

Own the development of scalable single-page applications in AEM

Write well-designed, efficient code that works across devices

Build reusable CMS components with HTL (Adobe’s templating language), CSS and JavaScript

Develop high-demand authoring and user experiences

As per the industry changes, be up to date on cutting edge technologies/tools, create Proof of Concepts and implement them

Contribute to CI/CT/CD process using DevOps tools

Involve inGrooming/Planning/Scrummeetings and be part of required scrum events

Analyze end user needs and design, develop and unit test your software

Contribute to design and coding standards to ensure consistency across applications

Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience in designing from scratch and development of modern responsive web apps

Mastery of CSS/SCSS - capable of building out a design architecture and make strategic decisions about code

Mastery of "vanilla JS" or JS for websites

Experience with Node and build systems (Webpack/Gulp)

Experience with the latest frontend tools & technologies, such as SCSS, Webpack, ES6 JavaScript, TypeScript and Storybook.js

Light weight web app design & development experience is a plus

Understand the tools and frameworks that come with AEM and how they are linked with each other is desirable

An understanding of design and ability to fill gaps, for example, if a design doesn’t cover all screen sizes or if it isn’t consistent

Ability to build and carry out data contracts with back-end and API developers

Experience with other platforms than AEM, such as Drupal and Magento is a plus

Experience with Java and advanced understanding of Apache Maven

Basic understanding of AEM and/or Sling, and a basic knowledge of web development principles with AEM are a plus

SVG authoring and optimization is a plus

Demonstrate excellent communication and inter-personal skills

Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills

Ability to provide exceptional support to both internal and external customers

Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced, changing environment

A self-starter with the drive, passion, and will to succeed

Demonstrate excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Webperformance/accessibilitytools experience is desirable

Demonstrate basic knowledge of continuous integration; build and deploy automation tools

Working knowledge of Agile methodology, preferably SCRUM

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

5+ years of experience in all phases of modern hands-on front-end web development

Expert CSS and JavaScript development skills

Experience with databases and basic SQL skills is a plus

Experience building sites using AEM is a plus

Experience with Adobe Platform, AEM Components, Dialogs, Templates, ClientLibs and Fragments is a plus

Experience with multiple software developmentmethodologies/lifecycles

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.

Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.

Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).

Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 5% of the time or less spent traveling.

Job may be performed on-site at a customer facility or data center, or in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table.
