Our mission is to provide the principles, policies, processes, architecture and governance to enable consistent, trusted and usable data to drive accurate data-driven business outcomes. The Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) team is part of the Data Office and plays a critical role partnering across the company to deliver on a multi-year roadmap to bring American Express data under governance.The Sr. Manager, Enterprise Data Governance Data Activation role will support the activation of data management (as outlined in the organization's Enterprise Data Governance Policy) across business units at American Express. This role will also provide support in training, communications, and change management related to data governance across the enterprise.Responsibilities include:Execution of data activation activities and processes to bring data under governance (e.g., critical data element prioritization, data mapping, identifying data management roles, documenting data, and classifying systems)Communicating data management program requirements to federated data management teamsInitiating the training of federated data management teams on foundational processes and activities to bring data under governanceCommunicating requirements to teams who own data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, data quality platform, etc.)Qualification Requirements:Understanding of Data Management and Data Governance concepts (metadata, lineage, data quality, etc.) and related metrics to monitor compliance of Data Governance policy and standards5+ years of prior experience implementing Data Management / Data Governance programs, preferably at the Enterprise levelBasic experience / knowledge of Data Governance / Data Management tools (e.g., Collibra)Ability to collaborate, influence, and communicate across multiple stakeholders and levels of leadership, speaking at the appropriate level of detail to both business executives and technology teamsExcellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and encourage partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignmentHigh degree of organization, individual initiative, results and solution oriented, and personal accountability and resiliencyProven track record of driving results in a fast-paced environment often with significant ambiguity and needing to make decisions with less than perfect informationWe back our colleagues and their loved ones with benefits and programs that support their holistic well-being.
