Main purpose of the job:
We are looking for a dynamic, high-calibre individual to work directly with High Net Worth Individuals, Industrialists, and Dynastic families- including through family offices- looking to invest into the UK as the regional lead for the GREAT Investor Programme (GIP). Most of this work will focus on India, which is one of the UK’s key commercial partners: individuals and companies currently invest more in the UK than the rest of Europe combined.
Specifically your role will cover:
Acting as the day to day face of the British Government for the Great Investors Programme, maintaining key relationships with Indian Industrialists and High Net Value Individuals (HNIs) including through family offices with a view to securing their investment in commercial and philanthropic projects in the UK;
Work closely with the DIT senior leadership – including Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner- DIT HQ and DIT’s Investment Partners and multipliers in the UK to facilitate and manage interactions, visits and promote investment opportunities.
Encourage this community of thought-leaders and key decision-makers in India and where possible, in other HMTC markets, to be ambassadors for FDI into the UK, including as part of aftercare;
Identify, prioritise and manage the list of important Indian businesses and individuals, ensuring strong relationship management;
Develop and deliver a strong pipeline of current and future investment wins;
Act as the operational lead on the UK Government’s Global Entrepreneur programme, which seeks to identify high potential start and scale up’s with the potential to relocate to the UK, working closely across the pan India team and with the GEP team in London to support events and visits by the Dealmakers into market.
Promote the UK as the preferred inward investment destination for Indian companies across sectors in coordination with the regional teams (either for Northern India if Delhi based or Western India if Mumbai based) Coordinate/work closely with the Deputy High Commissioners , DIT Senior Management Team and HQ on important Ministerial Visits, driving the delivery of Policy and reform

Roles and responsibilities:
50%
To promote the UK as the ideal investment destination for potential and existing Indian investors and to work with them to help them set up and further operations in the UK.
Responsible for building pipeline and ownership of relationships with India’s High Net-worth Individuals, Intermediaries, and families of dynastic wealth on behalf of the UK Government.
30%
To build solid links to, and work in partnership with, the UK Government’s investment partners and multipliers in the UK including Devolved Administrations, London and Partners, Local Enterprise Partnerships etc. And ensure potential investors are provided with a seamless end-to-end service which consistently leads to investment successes in the UK.
10%
To deliver against the Department for International Trade (DIT) strategic investment priorities & support Senior Management including Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioners, High Commissioner, and Senior members of the DIT Investment Team

To organise events and other kinds of tested activity with partner organisations such as Camden, Sotheby’s, CII, FICCI, etc. in order to develop a healthy pipeline of future investment projects.

Budget:All activities / campaigns to be delivered via the DIT Budget. The planned activities are meant to help DIT achieve its annual investment targets & build a strong network.

Working patterns:
The British High Commission network across India is committed to providing flexible work patterns. While standard hours are 9:00 Hrs to 17:00 hours, the use of mobile ICT and the nature of the job means that the jobholder will be able to work different hours according to their personal circumstances.
Essential qualifications, skills and experienceLanguage requirements:
Language: English essential, Hindi desirable.
Level of language required: Fluent in written & spoken English

Essential on arrival:
Your portfolio of companies may already be part of your existing network of industry contacts, or they may be new relationships that you will build and nurture – alongside senior British High Commission representatives, where appropriate – to secure higher value investment wins for the UK.

Qualifications:
Graduate/post graduate. Candidates without the required educational qualifications but with exceptional practical experience will be considered.
Experience:
Should have at least 5 years of total and 3 years of relevant commercial/business experience.
An in-depth understanding of Foreign Direct Investment and a strong network in the region are essential.
Strong analytical and business skills to search out significant opportunities for investment into the UK market
Strong Project Management skills.
Experience working in a family office would be advantageous.
Excellent interpersonal skills, team working and people management skills. To lead and manage resource across grades.
Ability to influence, lobby and articulate key messages and to work in a team will be essential.
Experience of dealing with senior level decision makers of Indian national and state government. You will need to show a solid track record of dealing with senior level decision makers in the business world.
Background will include senior level experience within the ICT, Financial Services, Life Sciences, Automotive, Engineering or consulting sectors.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experienceDesirable:
We are looking for candidates who have experience of working overseas (ideally in the UK, knowledge of the business environment and of UK business related policies), or of managing overseas projects and investments.
Experience of leading a team remotely is desirable but not mandatory
Marketing and presentational skills.
