The Operational Excellence team acts as a Center of Excellence (COE) within the business, and assists in the identification, monitoring, and management of Operational Risks related to the business products and processes. Operational risk is the risk to the current or projected business objectives and resilience arising from inadequate or failed internal processes or systems, human errors or misconduct, or adverse external events.The Operational Excellence team leads governance and implementation of requirements related to several large-scale programs like Third Party, Customer Communication/Disclosures, Regulatory Exams, Information Security, Privacy, Financial Reporting, Physical Security, Data Management and Business Continuity/Resiliency.In line with Amex's "three lines of defense" approach to risk management, the Operational Excellence team (First Line of Defense) actively works with Second Line of Defense (Global Risk, Compliance, Privacy) and Third Line of Defense (Internal Audit) teams to ensure adequate implementation of risk management framework requirements.Analyst/Sr Analyst, USCS Operational Excellence will play an integral part in managing operational risk related to Travel & Lifestyle Services (TLS) products and capabilities across the TLS ecosystem.Responsibilities include:Execution of Operational Risk programs like Third Party Lifecycle Mgmt. (TLM), Process Risk Self-Assessments (PRSA), New Product Governance (AEMP54), Privacy initiatives Operational Risk Events and Corrective Action Plans.Collaborate and partner with Risk SMEs, Legal and Compliance teams to ensure products and processes align with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, with effective controls and testing to prove compliance.Identify trends, themes, tendencies that indicate emerging operational risks by analyzing data and trends.Effectively communicate takeaways to business partners to drive critical responses and action.Drive flawless operational execution for new business initiatives e.g., new products, refreshes, capabilities, marketing offers and benefits (travel)Provide support to the team in information security Gap remediation exercise and should also be able to review control evidence and highlight discrepancies.Qualifications:The ideal candidate will possess the following:Prior work experience in Operational Excellence Risk & controls, information Security, Technology, Internal Audit, Compliance, or related fields like Privacy, with demonstrated experience in collaborating with management at various levels.·Strong work ethic with an intense will-to-win and demonstrated personal excellence.·Highly motivated self-starter, with a sense of urgency, positive attitude, and an agile approach - ability to shift priorities with changing internal and external environment.·Project management skills and outstanding attention to detail with the ability to launch and manage complex processes and projects is essential.Understanding of the AEMP-54 , Third-Party Lifecycle Management , Issue Management, and PRSA.Ability to work outside of normal working hours, as required in global roles.Adaptable and comfortable working under ambiguous and/or changing circumstances.·Bachelor's or master's degree in business or Computer Science discipline and Risk or Audit certificationsCompliance LanguageWe back our colleagues and their loved ones with benefits and programs that support their holistic well-being.
