Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.
Role Description

As the Global Engineering Operations Leader, you will be a senior staff member of the Transportation Sensor Engineering Organization reporting directly to the Global Director of Transportation Sensor Engineering. You will be responsible for managing and reporting KPIs/Metrics for all product lines and projects serving the Automotive and Industrial & Commercial Transportation (ICT) markets. You will also organize and facilitate Global Monthly Detailed Project Status Reviews by Platform/Product Line to deep dive progress on Key NPI Projects, Technology and Platform Development Programs
The Global Engineering Operations Leader will engage directly with the Regional Engineering and Platform Engineering leaders and their cross-functional product line engineering teams and technologists across the globe. Additionaly they will frequently engage with Product Management, Project Management, Sales, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and other functions as it pertains to portfolio management and analysis. They will need to be comfortable, experienced and adept working across the various time zones, geographical and organizational boundaries as well as ambiguity.
The ideal candidate would be a former Engineering Manager, Program Manager or a Senior Technologist/Engineer with many years of sensor development and launch experience and possessing excellent communication, networking and interpersonal skills.
Job Description

KPIs/Metrics
• Drive definitions and alignment with cross-functional teams across regions
• Track and monitor Engineering and Project Execution KPIs/Metrics globally and regionally
• Prepare and publish detailed reports to track progress towards Star Ratings established for Transportation Sensing and aligned with Global Automotive Business Unit goals.
• Work with Regional Project Managers, Regional NPI Engineering Leaders and Platform Engineering Leaders to develop improvement strategies and plans for implementation.
Monthly Detailed Project Status Reviews
• Organize and facilitate Global Monthly Detailed Project Status Reviews by Platform/Product Line to deep dive progress on Key NPI Projects, Technology and Platform Development Programs.
• Work with Regional Project Managers, Regional NPI Engineering Leaders, Platform Engineering Leaders, Technical Program Managers and Quality Organization regarding the preparation and presentation of standardized materials based on current phase in LeanPD process.
Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE)
• Lead global VA/VE initiatives for Transportation Sensors in close collaboration with Global Procurement teams and Global Automotive Business Unit VA/VE Team.
• Work with assigned VA/VE Coordinators to track and monitor VA/VE performance globally and regionally by Platform/Product Line. Prepare and publish detailed reports to track progress towards VA/VE goals indicating status in phases of Execution, Feasibility and Planning.
R&D Budget & Portfolio Analysis
• Work with Transportation Sensors Finance partner, Digital Data and Innovation Manager, Engineering Leadership and Product Management Leadership teams to track and monitor global product line performance and project details including revenue growth, margin analysis, R&D cost analysis, return on investment and engineering productivity by region, site and global product lines.
ADPAC (Advanced Development Project Approval Committee)
• Organize and facilitate Global Project Approval Committee for the initiation and tracking of Advanced Development Projects.
• Effectively establish the agenda, call and facilitate ADPAC meetings, reviewing past actions and documenting new action items and meeting minutes for each Gate Review.
Initiatives & Special Projects
• Lead initiatives and special projects on an as needed or assigned basis.
• Be the go-to person in Transportation Sensor Engineering to organize roll out of update or new product development procedures in collaboration with Automotive PMO organization to drive global standardization and engineering excellence.
General Responsibilities and Expectations
• Be a data analysis expert: Identify, gather, analyze data and make their insights accessible through easy-to-understand presentations and reports including graphs, trends, charts and tables.
• Conduct regular frequency of project meetings, maintain team rooms and action RAILs, document all information and ensure meeting minutes and all data and information is appropriately shared.
Qualification & Knowledge

Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science)
7-10+ years of technical engineering management, project management or senior design engineer experience including full lifecycle developments; all aspects from initial research & development, spec development, concept development, design, testing & validation, qualification and production release of Automotive or ICT Sensor Product Lines.
Experience in large corporations interacting with global technology and product development teams in a cross-functional, multi-site environment.
Exceptional fluency in English
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with leadership, stakeholders, cross functional teams (engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, finance, sales) and subject matter experts.
Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions when presented with a series of challenges, conflicts and constraints
Ability to drive to big picture goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining strong attention to the details.
Exemplary in data and statistical analysis, pivot tables, report generation.
Highly effective user of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Power-BI and Minitab.
Willingness to travel as required, ~25%
