About the ESG Controllersteam at Citi
The Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Controllersteam within the Financefunctionis responsible forthe strategic oversight, preparation,reviewand ultimate submission of external ESG disclosures for CitigroupInc('Citi').The team's scope requires close collaborationwith stakeholders from the Sustainability & ESG office, Risk Management, Business Divisions, Human Resources, Legal and other global functions across the organization fortimelyandaccuratereporting withappropriate controlsand governance.
About the Role
TheSustainabilityReporting Policy & GovernanceVice President (VP)is amid-to-seniorlevel position ontheESGControllersteamresponsible for developing andimplementingeffectivepolicies,governanceand controlsoverESG disclosuresfor Citigroup globally.
Thisrole willprimarily:
Helpestablishrobustpoliciesand standardsto define requirements forregulatory and voluntarysustainability reporting,
Coordinatethe activities of multiplecross-functional executive steering forumsto ensure effective governance and oversight of reporting activities, and
Assess theimpactofemergingsustainability reporting requirementsonCiti's overall disclosure strategywhileensuringcompliance with applicable regulatory guidelines.
Theidealcandidatewillhave a background inreporting,governance and controls andwillalsopossessfamiliarity with sustainability reporting frameworks/regulationssuch as theEuropean Union (EU)Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive(CSRD), International Sustainability Standards Board(ISSB) standards, Greenhouse Gas(GHG)Protocol, Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials(PCAF)standards, and California climate-related disclosure rules.
This role reports totheESG ControllersReporting Policy & Governance Leadand will be a critical contributor to the implementation of theoverallESG reporting strategy at Citi.This role will also require close coordination and engagement with externalstakeholdersincluding assurance providers and consulting partners. Strong executive communication and project management skills arerequired.
Responsibilities
Coordinatethe activities ofcross-functional executivegovernance forumsestablishedfor critical decision-making,reviewandchallenge ofESGdisclosuresand project oversight for Citi's ESGreportingobligations.
Develop executive-levelcommunications summarizing Citi's sustainability reporting strategy, key disclosure items for consideration andthe effectiveness of disclosure controls and procedures for the review ofmanagement-and Board-level committees.
Draft, implement andmaintainpolicy, standard and proceduredocumentstodefinethe requirements forsustainability reporting globally (includingconsiderations for governance, materiality, controls,rolesand responsibilities).
Integrate sustainability reporting processes into Citi's overall Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)Framework and taxonomy.
Support the execution ofmateriality assessmentstoidentifypriorityESGtopics,define the scope of reporting, andmeet the needs of Citi's internal and external stakeholders.
Assess theimpactof emerging ESG reporting regulationsonCitigroup'sdisclosure strategy anddevelop action plans toprepare fornew regulatory requirements, where applicable.
Coordinate with international finance and regulatory reporting teams to ensure consistency of disclosures betweentheGroup andstandalone subsidiaries.
Develop subject matterexpertiseon ESG disclosures, keeping current on evolving disclosure trends in the industry.
Coordinate with internal auditors or other external assurance providers of the information within Citi's ESG disclosures.
Skills
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting,Businessor related field. CPA and/or CA preferred
Knowledgeable in ESG reporting frameworksand regulations(e.g.,Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive,California Climate-related Disclosure Rules,International Sustainability Standards Board,Greenhouse Gas Protocol) and industry trends, with willingness to developexpertise
5+ years of relevant experience, preferred in financial services industry or Big 4 audit/consulting firms
Knowledge of financial and/or regulatory reporting and associated systems and processes
Firm understandingoffinancial and sustainability reportingmateriality concepts,including double materiality assessments(DMA)
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a complex and dynamic environment
Strong project management and organization skills
Self-motivated with ability to make decisions in absence of detailed instructions
Excellent communication skills(clear and concise executive communication, effective use of visual and written communication, andstrongpresentation skills)
